Remix

Elyse posted this and I thought it was pretty cool (I don’t care if you like or dislike the pop of 2009 =p). It actually makes me feel nostalgic a bit.

My littlest sister turns 18 this weekend, which is a bit crazy. I still make fun of her by asking her if she knows how to read yet, but here she is writing all kinds of stuff. I remember when I was 18… boy, was I hot stuff. ;p I liked to make weird faces (oh, I still do).

Hmmm… I guess I don’t really look that different, haha…

The New Year one

As is probably apparent by my previous posts, I opted to stay in town to welcome in 2010 instead of venturing to Dallas with Heather, Steph and Ryan. That being the case, I saw in the new year with a few peeps over at my place who just hung out and played games mostly. I also volunteered to dog-sit Ally as Chancy went to another party.

On Saturday, since nearly everyone is out of town for a while, Mark and I worked on our frisbee technique. I’m happy to say that I am quite content with where my back-hand throw is now (it previously was utterly terrible) which has gotten stronger and more accurate. After nearly two hours of that, we went to get food then Brook showed up with a few peeps and we played a relatively short 3v3 game. <3 Ultimate.

I also watched the Tech and Cowboys games, Sherlock Holmes, and the ending of a horrible “SyFy” movie - Flu Bird Horror. I’d say two of those four were satisfying, one was mediocre, and one, I am lucky to have seen without suffering brain damage. I will let you guess which is what.

“You’ve been around for such a long time now
Oh maybe I could leave you but I don’t know how
And why should I be lonely every night
When I can be with you, oh yes you make it right” - Tracey Ullman

Very early in the morning

It’s approximately 4:20AM right now and Viraj, Mark and I finished playing some DoTA after I watched Mark decimate Viraj in a game of Risk. In the middle of their game, I had a craving for ramen, so I went to HEB and got some. Ironically, by the time I got back, my craving had subsided and I was too lazy to make any, so… I ended up eating a bunch of junk food instead.

After seeing my 2009 blog word cloud, I’ve determined that I use the word “just” too much, so I’m going to make a conscious effort to curb that habit.

In my little photo sig, you’ll also see the “Happy New Year!” plate that Heather and Steph left for me before they kidnapped Ryan. Apparently they forced him to sign it too. How sweet. =p I, however, saw the secret code in my roommate’s signature that screams “help me! these girls are crazy!”

OMG, they’re torturing him by force-feeding him! Don’t worry, Ryan, the ninjas I sent to retrieve you should be arriving shortly.

Countdown

Heather and Steph have kidnapped my roommate for the New Year festivities in Dallas, so I’m:

…again. But! That’s not bad as I think a nice and easy countdown to the new year doesn’t sound very terrible at all. I’m itching to do something somewhat creative/productive though, so we’ll see if I can muster up anything (don’t hold your breath).

As a side note, in 2000, when asked where I’d be ten years from then, I said:

I’ll be 26… possibly married, making money… probably got a master’s in Computer Engineering… leading a happy life. =) Hopefully. =)

In 2004, I said in five years, I’d:

Stable job… somewhere… I wonder if I will have a girlfriend then… lol. Owner of an Infiniti G35 Coupe. =)

Apparently my future telling was not very keen back then… married? Hahaha… oh little Oliver, you slay me.

See ya in 2010!

ZillaPics

Over the Christmas break, we raided some old photos. My sister snatched a few to digitize in order to make sure some of the crimes done against us were documented.

This one of me, in particular, is a beauty:

There are many more over at livizilla.com. Sometimes, I am honestly surprised I didn’t get physically beaten up. Little did I know that I lived in constant danger… ahhh… ignorance.

On another note, the iMac 27” is too much for Photo Booth to handle. When it turns the screen white as a pseudo-flash, it basically washes out the resulting picture. Luckily, I discovered that holding down shift while taking the photo makes it not do that… but that was after I took this beauty (which somehow isn’t as washed out as other ones I’ve taken):

Hmm, I need a haircut…

TUAW

Well, TUAW picked up my Photo Booth story, so maybe Apple will fix it now that it’s got a bit more visibility. =) They thanked me by first name reference in their post, though I get no link love. =( Haha, that’s okay, I don’t know if I really want that anyways…

I love between Christmas and New Year’s time at work. It’s kind of like the last few weeks/days of high school where the teachers have run out of things to teach (since the AP tests were over already) so it’s a bit more mellow.

Photo Booth Year Bug

So upon further investigation, it totally seems like there is a Photo Booth bug that started on the 27th of December, 2009. Starting around then, all the files it saves have the year 2010 instead of 2009. This is pretty bizarre. It looks like after 12-27-2009, Photo Booth always thinks it is one year in the future.

Might only impact Snow Leopard… my sister is unable to reproduce, but she’s still running Leopard. Or maybe it’s just my house. Yes, my system time is correct. =p

The bitter cold of the north

Well, I succumbed then relatively quickly overcame my cold that left me feeling very… cold. Yesterday, I was talking to Ryan after returning from his visit home when I suddenly felt incredibly cold despite the house being at basically the same temperature it had been the entire day. After a while, I hid under a blanket and still felt cold until I piled another one on top of that. I ended up sleeping in late and skipped work, but now I am feeling much better and much warmer.

On a side note, there seems to be something wrong with Photo Booth. The file names it saves are a year in the future. I checked my system clock and it’s definitely correct… anyone else have this issue?
