2009

Happy New Year! I’ve got a new year resolution or two, but I’m keeping them to myself. =p What I will share, though, is the awesome pizza we had on New Year’s Eve from Arpeggio Grill. We got a monster 28” pizza with a bunch of toppings for something around $32.46 (just a random guess… j/k, I asked Mark).

The plates in the video are almost 9” in diameter, FYI.

Chancy Wedding

Congratulations, Chad and Nancy!

I wish I had had some prep time before having to give my “toast” (I didn’t even have a drink on me… =). There’s a few things I would have liked to have said, that I just didn’t think about having been thrown on the spot (coughthanksgracecough). Sooooo… I guess I’ll make a blog entry with some of it instead even though no one reads this thing anyways. =)

When Nancy and Chad first started dating, Chad would often talk about her. I remember a car ride when Chad would look at a picture of Nancy and ask me “how did this happen? how did a beautiful girl like Nancy decide to like me?” I think we all probably wondered the same. =)

Probably a few months into their relationship, Chad and I were talking through Jester and he was talking about dating Nancy. He told me that if it didn’t work out with Nancy, that he wasn’t going to date anyone else and that Nancy would be his last. I know that Chad’s not the type of guy to make those type of statements/commitments without serious thought, so I had no doubt in my mind that he really meant it. He had told Nancy this too, and she probably thought he was crazy, but I think this was Chad’s way of recognizing that he had something special with Nancy and that he wasn’t going to find anyone else like her. That was seven or so years ago and I think Chad already knew that he loved Nancy.

There are a lot of couples out there that make you question how long they’ll last and/or make you really surprised when they announce a wedding. With Chad and Nancy, I think we all were just wondering when it would happen and it would have been weird if they didn’t end up married (well, at least that was the case with me =). I think that has to do with a lot of “small” things like the above and Nancy’s incredible knack to put up with Chad’s shenanigans. =) There’s no doubt that that guy can make your blood boil sometimes =), but yet Nancy’s stuck with him all these years. I remember times talking to Nancy when she said she just couldn’t imagine being with anyone else.

I really did mean it when I said that Chad and Nancy are good for each other. They challenge and help each other grow and there’s no question that they love each other. Congrats, friends. =)

Now that I’m done with the sap, here’re a few photos and the rest are on my flickr, as usual. I’m not sure if they’re up yet, but I’m sure Kat, Sam, and Van will have excellent photos as well (and hopefully some during the ceremony ;). Oh yes… and my sisters too. =) Enjoy!

…and the rest are here.

OMG Like a School Girl

I cannot believe it actually happened. Every since the FIRST Guitar Hero came out, I have wanted this to happen. I even made a post on the official forums (which I can no longer find…) adding this to the song request thread. Mark and I even contemplated writing our own PC version so we could make this happen (our PS2 to USB controller converter didn’t work which foiled our plans… haha).

Anyways, it is now done. I can die in peace. ;)

Top Gun Anthem for Guitar Hero III.

Firewire is dead. Long live USB!

I went looking for a Firewire cable for Mac to Mac target disk mode usage today and hit up Wal-Mart and Radio Shack. I went to an HEB Plus! too, but wasn’t really expecting them to have it… they had pretty much the same selection as Wal-Mart and Radio Shack though. None of them had 6-pin to 6-pin Firewire cables.

The guy at Radio Shack that tried to help me didn’t even know what Firewire was. He asked me what it was used for and when I replied “computers,” he asked me what it plugged into and I replied “uhh… Firewire ports.” After that, he asked me if it was an internal or external cable. At that point, I probably gave him a face that said “move out of my way and let me look for it myself since you obviously don’t know what I’m talking about” so he just pointed me towards the computer cables section.

Is Firewire really that rare now? Shouldn’t at least Radio Shack have them?

I finally ventured into a Circuit City and paid way too much for the cable I was looking for.

In other news, Kat tells me that Round Rock Donuts’ drive through is now open 24 hours. That is absolutely splendid news.

Rock Band Madness

Christmas:

New Year’s:

Endless Setlist:

While we were playing the Endless Setlist, our drums’ foot pedal snapped in half because it could not handle our awesomeness. That did not stop us, however, as we resorted to restoring its usefulness by hacking up our pizza box:

Ho ho ho!

Merry Christmas, everyone! I setup studio lights to capture my family’s presents opening and my mom playing drums on Rock Band. I think they turned out well. Pics to follow…

Oh yeah… and congrats to Grant and Melissa! Thanks for having me shoot your wedding!
