Congrats, Brook and Frances!
The rest are here!
Well, I finally updated the layout, and switched over to owiber.com! There’s still some work to do, but it should hopefully be functional. I’ve tested in a few browsers and made a conscious decision to NOT support IE6, so if you come here with that poor excuse for a browser, prepare for some ugliness and a JavaScript pop-up telling you so. I haven’t tested in IE7 yet, but I hope that works okay… let me know if you find any issues!
The coolest little feature is if you hover over the flickr images at the top/left, it’ll change the main image at the very top. I broke a big website “rule” by not having my content above the fold, but I think the photo switch thingy makes up for it a bit, and heck, I don’t sell anything here, so I don’t really care. =) I plan on enhancing my flickr integration a bit so you can do the hover over thing with more than just the five most recent photos in my stream, but… that’ll be later. Have fun!
…oh yeah, and if you happen to look at my code, you probably won’t be very happy. It’s likely very horrible and messy. I just wanted to throw that out there… :-)
“Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain
Telling me just what a fool I’ve been
I wish that it would go and let me cry in vain
And let me be alone again
The only girl I care about has gone away
Looking for a brand new start
But little does she know
That when she left that day
Along with her she took my heart” - The Cascades
So last night I had a dream I went back to high school to get a second “degree” (I think I knew this was pretty much worthless, since it’d just be another diploma, but somehow I thought it’d be fun). After a class or two and looking at the work I had to do for US History, I decided it wasn’t worth it and went to the office to drop-out. At the end of my dream, I declared “hey! I’m a high school drop-out now!”
Apparently, my enrollment and first day of class (or maybe it was sometime in the first week) coincided with a few of my friends visiting the school, which made for a convenient get-away as I just walked out of the school with them on their way out. This was a somewhat weird dream, perhaps spawned by seeing a clip of Mark-Paul Gosselaar (aka Zach Morris) on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
“Hast Du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst Du vielleicht grad’ an mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass sowas von sowas kommt” - Nena
I posted pics a day or so ago, but figured I’d make a blog post too. Matt and Tara, two of our interns at work got married last week. I got to be their designated photographer, so here are a few shots:
… and the rest are here!
I was going through songs to post at the end of this blog post and ran across “My Heart Will Go On” which reminded me about a middle school talent show I went to at roughly post-peak Titanic craze. In said talent show, I recall at least three or four girls who sang that song as their entry, which was just horrible. By the end, you could sense that the audience was just tired of it. So… the goal of this is… if you ever are in charge of a talent show, do not let your performers do the same song over and over. It is terrible.
“Oh your reputation is so golden
You’re never lonely and you’re never home
I know you’ve been talking about leaving
You’ve lost all your feelings for this town.
Paint your nails and put your lipstick
You don’t want to miss your ticket out.
Just because you graduate from school
So high in the gene pool that’s your point of view.” - Dexter Freebish
Our team hit our goal for the quarter! Regardless of hitting the goal, we decided to have a “play day” to rest from all the hard work we did, so we went to the lake and went kayaking/canoeing. Here are some pics:
As always, more on flickr.
I’m going to sore tomorrow from it, I’m pretty sure. =)
“Oh but I
Need some time off from that emotion
Time to pick my heart up off the floor
And when that love comes down
Without devotion
Well it takes a strong man baby
But I’m showing you the door‘Cause I gotta have faith…” - George Michael
I had the privilege of shooting Bazaarvoice’s 2009 Social Commerce Summit in Austin this week. It’s a great opportunity and an awesome event to attend. I likely wouldn’t be able to go to it solely in my primary job capacity (as a team lead on the Technical Services team), so I’m very happy to have been able to go as the photographer. Here are a bunch of shots from it:
And of course, a ton more on flickr. Looking forward to London ‘09!
“Sometimes I just forget
Say things I might regret
It breaks my heart to see you crying
I don’t wanna lose you
I could never make it aloneI am a man who will fight for your honor
I’ll be the hero you’re dreaming of
We’ll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love” -Peter Cetera
When we got to Vegas, one of the first things Sam said when we were walking around our hotel room (which was off the strip) was “hey! I can see where I got mugged from here!” Gee, thanks, Sam.
In the day time, when walking around, we found some bullet shells:
Gee, thanks, Sam.
Towards the end of the trip, we heard a series of loud bangs across the parking lot near the Tropicana. It was later taped up and cops were patrolling the area:
Apparently, there was a gunfight:
Needless to say, I think someone else is in charge of our hotel reservation next time.
In the morning (~6AM), a few hours after the incident, we had cops knock on our door. Viraj answered it after waking up and the cops asked “if we heard anything last night” very obviously referring to the loud bangs. Viraj then proceeded to blatantly lie and said “no, we just saw yellow tape and police.” When we confronted him about it later, he claimed he lied because he was “scared.” Police asked him if there was anyone in the room that wasn’t supposed to be there. I wish I had woken up, looked at Viraj and said “who are you?” Maybe Viraj really is a terrorist…
Chad, Nancy, Oman, Sam, Viraj, and I went to Vegas this past weekend (plus a few days) and had a great time. Dean and Julie joined us later. It was also Sam’s birthday, so we gave him some good old fashioned birthday “spankings” (warning: there is profanity):
Here’re also a few other photos:
More on my flickr set, including this gem (again, warning: profanity):
“Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can’t get no relief, Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?” - Queen
I created a tauren hunter the other day and I named him Cowbama. Once I hit level 7, I stopped by Thunderbluff and some level 63 death knight started trying to make fun of me. He kept on whispering me with “hey, can you do this?!” and ran across the Thunderbluff pond. Despite not being able to walk on water like death knights, I replied “YES, WE CAN!”
I didn’t get a reply after that, so I’m not sure if the death knight was just confused or if he got the joke…
“And we both know, that our love will grow
And forever it will be you and me
Ooh your life is sun,
Chasing all the rain away,
When you come around you bring a brighter day” - Atlantic Starr
